The best position for an enema

Are you preparing your first enema and unsure which position is right? First of all: there is no single perfect position. Try out different ones and change the angle a little until it suits you. These three positions are recommended most often – ideally, try them in this order.
1. Lying on your (left) side
Lie on your left side and stretch out your legs. Pull your right knee towards your chest and rest it on the floor. Support your head with a pillow or your left arm. This makes it easy to insert the tip.
2. Lying on your back
Lie on your back, with a pillow under your head if needed, and pull your knees towards your chest. The bathtub is also an option – you can rest your feet against the wall.
3. On all fours
Kneel down and support yourself on your elbows. Resting your head on the floor reduces the angle of your pelvis.
Our tip
Try the positions near the toilet. With a little experience you will notice which position is easiest for you. Many people also say that relaxing and breathing calmly and deeply helps.
